Advise needed re. upgrade older bikes or get a new one
Hi - I'm another newby to your site and forum. I have two nice bikes, but both are older and not sure if it would be better to try and sell both and get a newer more modern bike or try to upgrade one of the bikes. I have a 1978 "chrome" Schwinn Super LeTour (23 inch) in mint condition and a 1984 Cannondale ST400 sport touring bike (23 inch), also in mint condition. Both are original purchase and I have all the paper work. I'm told the "chrome" finish on the Schwinn is somewhat rare as it was a $50 upgrade back in 1979. I ride mainly on hard trails and the road and the tire selection for one is an issue with the 27 inch wheels. It also seems like I must have shrunk some with age as both bikes seem slightly on the tall side for me now. It seems like a cross bike may be a good fit, but again want to see if anyone can give me some recommendations. Thanks, clshark

If you want to ride and not fiddle with old stuff I would sell them and get something newer. Say 5 years old on CL. If you want to fiddle, keep em and update as needed. Ask in the classic and vintage forum. They will tell you to keep em, cause that's what they are into, but they will have an idea about worth and compatibility of what you have.

Howdy. If you are thinking about selling your bikes and wondering how much to ask, please post in the dedicated C&V Valuation forum and not the general C&V forum. If you want to do any 'restoration' or 'upgrading', there's plenty of knowledgeable folk in C&V and Mechanics that should be able to help. If you're planning on selling, that yellow jersey that you have allows for you to post in the C&V Sales area.
