Hello from sunny Florida

I'm in the market for a new bike and this forum kept popping up in my online research. Seems there is a lot of talent and enthusiasm here. Looking for something in the hybrid/cafe/flat bar family. I ride 120-150 miles per week for pleasure. Cheers!!

Hey Tomas,

Welcome to Bike Forums from a Texas road rider.

Visit local shops and have fun with test rides.

Buy from the friendly shop and the bike that talks to you.

Hey 10 Wheels,
I spent 24 years in Fort Worth prior to retiring in FL. Have a good friend from LM who currently lives in Galveston!

League City here.

We ride to Galveston about once each month.

La Marque about 5 times a week.

My friend Roy rode 750 miles for his 75th BD.

Welcome aboard Tomas! Chance would have it that I happened to have found this place the exact same way you did!

Please feel free to look through the many boards and enjoy your stay!

Where do you live in FL? My daughter and I both go to Revolutions Cyclery in Melbourne. They take a lot of time to measure you before you buy and then an hour or so at least to fit you when your bike arrives. Great place.

I'm in Satellite Beach. The guys at Revolutions seem to be good people. My buddy and I were shopping for a bike for him, we stopped in and looked around but they did not have a big enough bike/frame for him. He ended up buying a Trek FX 7.6 up in Merritt Island. I am all over the place as far as what I want. Currently riding a Specialized Rock Hopper that I have converted to a quasi hybrid. It's comfortable, rugged and I recently did a major tune up so it's running great. Only downside is it's slow and the competitive side of me wants to go faster. That comes at a penalty as I lose the features that make the bike comfortable. My regular ride is South on Riverside, cross over Mather's Bridge, up Tropical Trail to Pineda and return, 18.5 miles, 4-6 times a week. Looking to go on longer rides with the right bike. Just don't know if I want to get back into the road bike thing.

My daughter and I started at her house in Baytree yesterday, worked our way down to the road that goes along the Indian River and then turned around near the bridge in Rockville. Ate breakfast at a place that President Obama visited and returned to her house. 24 miles round trip and the cinnamon roll negated any calories that I burned but boy was that a great ride.
