Hello from Chicago!
Thought I'd register after lurking around these parts for a bit...
Just bought a new bike + parts today on Amazon. Totally excited.
This bike plus upgraded tires, pedals, saddle, a brake levers set, and some bar tape. (All for under $350 shipped!) I used to own a Trek 7.3 FX but have decided to give single speed a go.
Complete newbie here, however. Never built a bike before but would love to finally understand the mechanics and get my hands dirty!
I live right by the lake so it'll be fun to ride the trails... any Chicagoans out there?!

Cheers and welcome to Bike Forums! Congrats on the new bike, learning to do your own wrenching is a lot of fun. You'll find useful info here, and there are several other recommended online sources too.
