New/Old Cycler

Hello All,

43 year old wanting to get back into biking after having a few small children finally get into school - amazing what you can do with a little free time! Used to bmx race back in the grand days and moved onto mountain biking later in life. Finally located in Florida and now am interested in more of a touring, riding, or cross style bike. I am glad I found the forums and am doing alot of research for my next purchase.

I am in the tampabay area. I think with my background and what I want with a bike, I am leaning towards a surry style cross bike. Not concerned about speed as much as being able to do whatever I want with the bike.

Hello dirfm, sounds like you might like a gravel road bike with your interests you stated. They are versatile bikes you can make suit your particular roads and riding style so you can take them anywhere. great to see another Florida rider here, I'm in Pensacola, NW Florida at the western border with Alabama, we have a lot of Tampa Bay area riders here.
