new bike, new member, new man
Hi guys! I've been reading threads on here for a while but finally decided to join after getting my new hybrid built up. I'm 33 with an active background and the back and knee injuries to go with it. I've been a near-daily NYC commuter for about 5 years, although now I'm mostly home with my one-year-old. To make up for my relative inactivity during the week, I would welcome any weekend trail or park suggestions in the area! I mostly like riding by myself, don't mind the rain but hate extreme temperatures, use a helmet and lights but find traffic and speed exhilarating - the illusion of safety in the face of mild danger? I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions, but enough for now. Cheers!

Nice to meet you. Put a kid seat on your hybrid - you can never start them too young!
There's a Northeast specific subforum that may be more helpful with rides in Brooklyn and whatnot.
I'm a bit North of NYC so can't help much with your local riding, but starting in May, Bike Sundays returns to the Bronx River Parkway. (closed to vehicular traffic!)

Another NYC rider, welcome to BF, the Hybrid and the Commuting forums might be your new homes while you are taking care of your son. Sounds like your safety awareness is really good.
