Let me begin by expressing my appreciation for this most informative resource; it's just the venue I was seeking.

I work my ass off (24 hr shifts) to afford a place next to a velodrome where I can blow off-steam on my track bikes. You might say "so what" but here in San Diego, I pay $1,200 a month rent for a studio loft. To me it's worth every penny to get home from the work, swap my FD boots for cleats, grab my fixer, and walk it across the park to the velodrome. I've surfed all my life and could have stayed at home with my parents at the beach but like you guys, I love fixed gears even more.

Anyway, I hope in the future to contribute in positive way.

Being originally from SD, and visiting there often, just where is the velodrome?

Oh, and by the way, Welcome!

Thanks for the welcome. The velodrom is located on Morely Field, just east of the zoo. The season ended for 2004 but I still love to ride it.

BTW---I just returned from your state, I was in Salida.

And i used to live in Burlingame (30th and Juniper) and ride my bike over to Morley field area. There used to be a swimming pool there.

Gravity, I grew up north of San Diego in San Marcos, inland from Oceanside.
I'm a beginner rider but I'm looking for a group to ride with during the christmas holiday. Perhaps I'll see you on a ride sometime down there.

I might attend a Critical Mass, but that is New Years Eve so I'm not sure.

Hey GH, I'm through your neck often comming from downtown through Balboa towards Springvalley. Usually find me on 5th and then cutting towards University on my way home or to work. We should meet up sometime, and perhaps find some other fixed in SD folks tooo.. I dunno, plan world conquest.

that's a lot to pay for rent; but then those in the FD are not making a smal amount of income --- either. Those in there normally have high-end bikes.
