Greetings from Philly

Hey there, I've always been more of an occasional weekend mountain biker, but I'm trying to get into road cycling now that I live in the city... So I joined BK to help educate myself. Hunting for my first road bike now. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated!

Hello Khinds, welcome to BF. Visit the Road Cycling and Regional Forums for help and to find others in your area for rides and activities.

Welcome...also a Philly guy. Great city for cycling...and a great city in general! The basic way to answer this is to ask what can you spend? Can you work on a used bike yourself? Do you care about weight and your top speed? What are your goals?

You might want to develop a relationship with a Local Bike Shop (LBS in BF speak) that will work with you and can give you the time to find a bike that fits and works for your needs. New or used they will be a big asset in your search and a source of information and guidance. If the shop won't listen to your needs and concerns find another shop that will. Best of luck in your search for the right bike, it is out there.
