Hello from Saginaw - MI (USA)

Just a quick hello post. I'm apparently a "clydesdale" from beautiful Saginaw, MI. So far I've been able to conclude that my Body Mass Index (BMI) says that I'm too short for my weight (6-1 & around 325 lbs). I enjoy commuting to and from work, unfortunately it's only about a 2 mile ride so I have to turn it into a sprint to be able to get my heart rate up. I just bought a 2001 Univega Alpina 600 from the LBS and LOVE it. The old Schwinn I had was costing me too much in repair (mostly due to the poor condition of the roads in Saginaw). Looking forward to ride with my family and kids to make sure we're getting enought exercise. Hoping to hit the local rail trail and go for a 30+ mile ride yet this summer (goal to take care of this summer).

Hi Ryan, from another of those Clydesdale sized types, welcome to BF. It sounds as if you are well started in your commuting, even a short ride helps your fitness, I would guess you have visited the Clydesdale and Athena Forum. You should look in to the Regional Forums for your area and find some others that are looking to set up some rides and other activities, it helps keep you motivated and enthusiastic about your cycling. We also have a great Commuting Forum that will help you with any questions for that aspect of your riding. Best wishes in your cycling, I look forward to reading your posts in the forums.
