Hi From CO - Upcoming Biker here, care to spend your $0.02 to help educate a noob???

Hi my name is Tim, and I live in Colorado. Lone tree area to be more exact (south of Denver-Castle Rock).

EDIT: I wrote a long post asking for advice for a new biker, but with recommendation I moved it to Clydesdales. Maybe you want to check it out?

Anyway I live in a BEAUTIFUL state and previously (before a leg injury) I spent a lot of time hiking and photographing this incredible place. I used to be a photographer for a studio as a side job, but I work in IT. I specialize in fiber, t1, ds3, and cable communications. I do a lot of server and desktop maintenance and setups, but I find more joy in communications, and fixing things that other people break. Blah blah blah.

I have a 7 month old kiddo, he is the joy of my wife and I. Very funny little guy.

I joined this forum to help lose weight. I am a hefty 270 pounds and would like to weigh in at MOST 200 pounds by this time next year. Feel free to check in on my progress because it will motivate me to follow through.

Anything else you want to know? Thanks for inviting me to your community,
Tim

Welcome aboard

Check in with the Clydesdale and Athena forum for some insight on helping choose a bike that will hold up under your girth. You might find some good reading by checking out some archived sticky threads in Commuting, most notably Advice to New Commuters.

Hi Tim, good to have you join us here at BF. You are in good company here, weight loss is a major motivator for many. What type of cycling are you most interested in doing?

Bill

Hi Bill I live in Castle Rock, CO and I haven't figured out if I should go road or mountain. There is one mountain trail right next to my house, it's not long, and my work is 2 miles away. Other mountain trails are about 5-10 miles away. The street I live on has a bike lane. SO I don't yet have an answer as to which I am going to do. I have $1400 if I can do both with that amount that would be sweet.
