New to biking

Good afternoon everybody. My name is Bobby and I am new to the biking community as of Sept. 2012. I am just barely learning that there are these amazing forums online that I can get on and chat with other fellow bikers about past experiences, possibly riding together and also alot of useful tips and tricks of riding. In my short experience with biking since Sept. I have gone about 1200 miles around town usually by myself but sometimes I do have one or two friends that join me. I am looking to start getting into touring so any tips or tricks that can be offered to me by some of the more seasoned riders would be greatly appreciated. I am buying a trailor to start touring with this weekend and really at first I just want to hook it up to my bike and really make sure that is the route I want to go over then just packing bags on my bike. I know it varies from person to person so I figure I would try riding both ways and see what is more comfortable for me. As of right now I ride my bike at least 10 miles a day and up to 60+ a day. Really I am joining this forum to see if there are any riders in my area that would be interested in joining me on day/week/month long excursions. I am really open to going new places and I love being on my bike so as long as we can spend as much time peddling as possible I will be a happy camper. I live in Salt Lake CIty and as of right now I have only been doing rides through the Valley. Realy I would love to get out of the valley and do some over night biking as far as camping goes I am not the person that wants to stay in hotels/motels. I want to be out in the tent cooking my own meals. I mean I am not opposed to having a hot shower every so often but mostly looking for a "roughing" it ride. I look forward to getting to know some of you and am so excited to be part of such a life changing group.

Hello Bobby, good to have you join us here at BF. Seems you have the touring bug and have some neat plans for a tour. You can also check in the Regional Forum to find others in your area for rides and maybe even to join you on the tours. As 10 Wheels said, the Touring Forum is your best starting place.
