New to the forum, new to biking
Hey everybody, I've been reading your threads for a while and learned a lot of great info.
Originally from Texas, I live in Brooklyn and commute by bike. I recently got interested in touring, but my experience is still limited. Right now I'm really into combining lightweight backpacking techniques with touring over long distances. Camping with a bike has been great, letting me take more and better overnight and weekend trips out of the city.
Currently, I ride a Biria CitiBike 700C. It's very basic, with a steel frame and 7x1 gearing. As the name suggests, it's best suited for riding on level surfaces with minimal gradient. I know just about enough to know it's not the ideal package for a touring bike, but it's been taking me where I want to go so far.
Well, that's probably more than enough. Thanks so much for sharing so much expertise and experience!

Hi, welcome to BF, sounds like you have the bike touring bug. We have a really good Touring Forum here, check in and participate with the members there. They can answer your questions and would like to have you experiences to learn from. You should also check in at the Regional Forums for your area, you'll find members that want to set up rides and other bike activities.

Thanks for the welcome guys!
10 Wheels, that trip looks amazing. Looking forward to doing something similar someday soon.
Bill, I'll definitely check out those forums and see what's going on, thanks for the tip.
