New from NM

Just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Dominic, and I am from New Mexico. I have not ridden bicycles since I was pretty much a kid. My coworker got me interested in riding, and I just picked up my newest bike since I was young. It is a Specialized Allez Sport. Any suggestions or criticism is welcomed.

Hello Dominic, great to have you here at BF. Nice bike, the Allez line are very nice bikes, should give you many great miles. Surf around the various forums and find the ones that you enjoy, make your self at home.

Welcome to Bike Forums. Will you be riding on the Turquoise Trail? Great place to ride.

Fix that saddle so its level, not pointing up.

I do not think I will be riding that any time soon. I live in Las Cruces, which much more south in the state. Thanks for the suggestion. I will try it out.

You might want to look in on the new Fit Forum, it covers fitting the bike to you properly. Things like Ron's suggestion for your saddle angle can make your riding much more enjoyable, with less chance of injuries or pain. Saddle height, tilt, fore and aft location, the stem length and height, bar rotation and width and crank length all should and can easily be correct for your body and your riding style, its not difficult and the forum can answer your questions. A good local bike shop (LBS here) can help you with this also and there are really great books like Lennard Zinn's series and Joe Friel's books. Best wishes on your riding.

Thanks Bill. I gave the Bikefit thread a glance, and will try to make some adjustements to my liking.

It will be worth the time it takes to sort things out, best of luck with your riding and fitting your bike out, too.
