Newbie in Texas

Hey everyone. Just picked up a new bike and went for my first ride in about 15 years. I've been trying to loose some weight, although I've lost 32lbs from dieting alone, I figured I needed to get some exercise too. I didn't have a lot of money to spend so my bike may not be the greatest, but it will get me going until I can save up for something better.

The equipment is not the focus; enjoying the ride. I wish you continued success on your goal.

Hello Stephen, I am a bit south of you and I am getting a new (new to me) bike for the same purpose... What did you end up buying? Where in the Panhandle are you located?

Thanks for the welcome. I bought a GMC Denali 700c from the local blue box store. I believe it's made by Kent Bicycles. I work in Amarillo, but live about 45 minutes North.

Hi Stephen, glad to have you join us here at BF. Don't sweat the bike you have, ride the bike you have and, enjoy every mile you get from it.
