New old guy from TN

My name is Kelly and I live in White House, TN. My son works in a bike shop and is an avid rider. Last year he asked me to go mnt biking with him, so I went to the shop where he works and bought a Trek Wahoo 29er, which I felt was a good entry level bike. Well, I only rode it twice on the trail in a year. My first time I crashed 3 times and hurt my shoulder. So... I was riding my mnt bike on the road which was not a lot of fun.

A while later my son mentioned a great deal he got on a trade in. I asked him to watch out for a used road bike. Ended up trading my Wahoo for a (1993?) Trek 1200. upgrades that I am aware of are Mavic CXP30 rims and a Profile Julie RC fork.

I really like riding this bike. :thumb:

Thanks for the welcome.

When I told my brother about this trade he admitted to me that he thought the shop got the better end of the deal until he rode the 1200. He rides a new CF Cannondale. :)

The Mavic rims are unbelievably true. I didn't even think to check, but my brother did and was astonished.

I don't know about all that riding and crashing, but you better be 90 years old to be calling yourself OLD!welcome to here anyway and don't fall down!!!

Hi DS, great to have you here with us. Your trade is definitely in your favor, that is a nice bike you have. I'm a big MAVIC fan, looking to do a wheel set build using MAVIC's Open Pro rims right now. If you would like you might want to drop in to the 50+ Forum, if you "qualify" (we haven't kicked anyone out to my faulty knowledge,) the gang there are a great group, I usually hang out there. There is a Southeast Regional Forum if you want to connect with other riders in your area. Welcome aboard.

Bill

Fasfingahs: My brother is 50 and has told me stories of both men and women 20+ years older than him smoking him up hills. I have a huge respect for that. :thumb:

The crashing was probably due to me not being on a bike *at all* for 30+ years and then going on an intermediate mountain bike trail. The doc said it looked like my shoulder came out socket and popped back in. Stretched some stuff and generally hurt like hell. I don't like crashing.

qcpmsame: Eh, I am 48... I will see if I can sneak in there.

Well I know crashing is not fun and hope you mend up good but I'M gonna tell you from my vantage point ya'll still young !!!!you too qcpmsame....................

Oh, that crash was last year when I first got the Wahoo 29er. I captured it on my GoPro too. Ha!
