Las Vegas!
Hi Everybody!
I've been lurking on these forums since I started riding a little over a year ago. I've found these forums to be a fantastic source of information and banter. It's a rainy day here in Las Vegas, NV (yes, we do have a wet season), so I figured I'd pass the time by dipping my toes in these waters.
Commuting to work on a bike is what got me started, and I'm currently riding to my job about 3 or 4 times a week on my '08 Specialized TriCross. Fixed/single speed bikes are obnoxiously fun too and I've been joyriding on those for a little over a year. I've recently started riding longer distances on the weekend and I'm almost at the point where 50 miles seems like a nice jaunt through the scrub desert instead of a fight for survival. Currently, I am also experiencing delusions of grandeur about one day riding a grand tour of some type, you know, cyclo-camping across state lines and the like.
So yea. Hi!

Welcome to the forums. I post here and there not to to much. Took a break in riding and starting back up again myself. I'm used to the hills of Cali and the cool weather. How is riding out there in the desert?

Welcome to BF! Just out of curiosity, how long is the "wet season" in Lost Wages? I'm going to guess about 15 minutes...

It's been an oddly wet summer. We've had about 3 or 4 flash flood warnings in the past 2 months. Of course, it goes away just as quickly as it arrives and the next day will be sunny, humid, and hot as all hell. Our hard-as-rock soil doesn't absorb much of anything, so any rain here can create some dangerous flood conditions.
