Greetings from PA!
Hi All,
After years of googling bicycle-related questions, and having the best answers come from this forum I've finally decided to sign up. I'm 35 and live in Lancaster, PA. My dad was really into cycling when I was a young adult, and tried to share that with my brother and I, but it is apparently just recently sinking in. I've been a bike commuter for about 1.5 years, -it's only a 3 mile ride to work- riding a hand-me-down 2001-ish Giant Sedona. Being a lifelong camper and backpacker, I've been intrigued by the idea of bike touring for a while now. I've been riding my new Surly Troll for a few weeks, getting everything dialed in and waiting for the summer heat to pass before hitting the road for some 1 to 2 night jaunts. I've been making utilitarian/crafty stuff for outdoor uses and for around the house for over a decade, in both textile and carpentry realms, and like to use recycled/repurposed materials when possible. I'm just beginning to extend this sort of creativity to bike related projects. A custom frame bag is the next project I will attempt, once the back to school season has passed and there is a better selection of book bags/daypacks at the local thrift stores, from which to harvest materials. I'm excited to be a part of Bike Forums and look forward to contributing when I can.
