Like a kid on Christmas morning...

That's how I felt when I came across this site!
Hello all from New Orleans. Middle-aged woman here with a few pounds to lose- there's still some pretty good muscle under the fat- and a lot to learn about cycling The weight is finally melting away as I've increased the mileage.
I've been riding for about a year now, after foolishly taking a few years off from it, and am completely hooked and in love with my Raleigh. Usually go about 30-45 miles three times a week. Last year, I did the MS-150 ride and performed badly, only making it two-thirds of the way the first day! I did all 75 the following day, but it was UGLY! I'm going again in October with determination to do much better.
The bike has been in the shop for a week now getting some broken bits replaced after a nasty crash when a car ran me off the road; should be getting it back tomorrow and am eager/anxious to hop on to get over the post-accident jitters. Have missed the bike so much I actually dreamed about it last night
Glad to be here, and looking forward to learning a lot!

Welcome to the forum!

Sorry to hear about your accident and I'm glad you and your bike are going to be okay. Are you going to increase your training miles for the MS150 ride?

Thanks so much for the welcome! And yes, I am planning to increase the miles big-time! Prior to last year, I did the ride successfully, but that was 5 years and 20lbs ago. Still trying to get the added weight off- grrr. This will be the first time I've ridden the year round prior to the ride, so I'm crossing my fingers that will help...
