Hello from Baton Rouge!

hI've been lurking here for a while & learning TONS of information, but I figured I'd post & introduce myself. I live in Baton Rouge, LA & have gotten back into cycling after a couple of decades away. I had bikes as a kid & would ride around my neighborhood a little. Now I'm 38, separated, and back into cycling. This past July I picked up a Torker Alpental from a LBS & realized how much I enjoy cycling. Last month I upgraded to a Trek 7.3 FX, which I love! I ride mostly in the neighborhoods around town, and I'm planning to do some riding around the lakes on the LSU campus. I try to ride between 10 & 20 miles every day, but sometimes kids and/or weather foil that plan. Between my two bikes, I've ridden nearly 600 miles since mid-July.

Here's the Torker:

And here's the Trek on an outing yesterday:

Glad to be here!

Welcome. You're lucky to have some very beautiful riding as the riding in the Feliciana Parishes (and into MS) is some of the prettiest riding I have ever seen. It has been a few years since I've ridden in SE LA but the Baton Rouge Bike Club is a fine club that put on some great rides (including one of my all time favorites which is Jambalaya Tours over Thanksgiving). Nice shot of the bike btw.

Thanks for the welcome & link! Sad that the Jambalaya Tours had to end; sounds like fun times. I'll definitely check out the BR Bike Club!

Welcome
I spent 5 years in BIG BR- at LSU.
Do the radio stations still call it BIG BR ??
Nice college town feel near the campus- rest of it just a city.
Rode many many miles on the levee and parallel to the levee-heading down river from the campus-nice ride-pretty rural from 1968-1973-didn't have to go far to be "in the country"-cows grazing on levee-horses etc-no stores gas stations-maybe one old store.
I'm in NOLA now- still ride the levee-but it isn't rural.

I really don't listen to the radio all that much (too many commercials!), but I don't think I've heard the city called Big BR.

Funny back then they constantly called it BIG BR-
It seemed odd because it was MUCH SMALLER than NOLA back then.
So-BIG BR is no more-oh well
welcome anyways even if BR isn't BIG anymore.
