Hello from Kalamazoo Michigan.

I bought my first bike in 2003, jamis durango. Riding it gave me a sense of freedom and I grew connected to the bike and still am. In 2009? I came across a 1973 nishiki international off of craigslist for 40 dollars and fell in love with vintage road bikes. Since 2008 I've been basically riding the nishiki and loving it.

Now I want to get my own tools together and perform my own maintenance, basically everything that would involve a tune up / overhaul.

Brought my Jamis out from retirement and I am about to breath new life into it via new steel fork.

I will probably be hanging out in the vintage threads most of the time as I would like to do small upgrades to the Nishiki.

It is nice to meet this massive bicycle community full of knowledgable and friendly people.

p.s when can I post pics? I think I have some commenting to do.

Oh thanks, for some reason I thought I had to post things before I had the privilege of posting pics.

Hi iamfrontosa,

Welcome aboard! Nice to see another local biker here. I live just north of the airport, and bike around Portage when I want a flat ride. I head north and west to find some hills.

I too like vintage bikes. A 1986 Schwinn Super Sport is my primary road bike.

I received your message but oddly enough I can't reply because I have to reach 100 posts. I will just copy and paste what I wrote...

Hi, In regards to "axel to my wheel hub" this problem was resolved close to 5 years ago, but thanks! If I ever have any issues I would like to contact you if that's okay. I would like to remove my spoke guard which entails removing the free hub? I heard it was uncool to have the spoke guards. But really I think the bike would look better minus the spoke guard.

Welcome aboard! We're all friends here who share the common passion of cycling and that "freedom" you described.
Make yourself at home.
