Hello from Winona MN
I am a 57 year old Grandpa to 3 Boys. I am starting to learn to ride a bike all over again. I have lost 200 pounds by Kayaking on my Mississippi River. I am sill 300 pounds, and would like to get under 250. I am 6 foot 3, with size 15 xxw shoes. I am having problems finding riding cloths and shoes in my size. My bike is a 15 year old Cannondale hybrid. Right now 4-5 miles is my limit, but we are slowly increasing my miles.
I have enjoyed the information you share.

Welcome to BF and back to cycling! Proper cycling clothing has a lot going for it, but it isn't totally necessary when you're @ 5 miles and working up from there. The two things that are really important are a helmet that fits you right and one of those velcro-closured ankle wrap thingies that'll keep your right pants leg from getting caught in the chain. Visit a good LBS and get yourself one of each. Definitely start out with those two things and sweat the full killer fashionista wardrobe later when you're churning out the miles. In the meantime, check out the Clydesdale/Athena forum---you'll find a lot of kindred spirits and stories there.

Welcome to Bike Forums! As mentioned before, you might want to check out the Clydes/Athena section here. It's a nice area for you to start. Feel free to start a thread asking anything about your needs! Have fun!
