Hey from Orlando!
Just recently got my first decent bike, a Nishiki Alamosa Mtn Bike 2013. They were trying to get rid of them for the newer models at a local Dick's, so I was able to grab one for $150, it's normally $289.99. After seeing that price I just had to go for it.
I bought it primarily for recreation but hadn't been on a bike in nearly five years, so it was interesting at first. After a couple times out, I decided to get some semi slicks put on it with the help of a local bike shop. Ended up getting some Geax Street Runners for about $30 a pop.
While I still only use it for recreation, I am slowly planning longer rides and/or debating commuting every once in a while to either work or school, just for the fun of it. These forums have already been a big help!
Just last night I got an awesome deal on a trunk rack from Dick's. I once again caught them trying to unload something and got one for 50% off, it's a Yakima MegaJoe. Haven't driven with it on yet but I'm very impressed with how stable it is, and it was only $79.99.
