Greetings from Boise, Idaho!

Hey all. My name is Thomas and I currently live in Boise, Idaho. I stumbled across this forum while searching for touring info. It looked interesting so I decided to stay for awhile. :)
I am planning on touring in a couple of months. I intend to leave Boise, ride through Oregon to the coast and drop down into California. It's been twenty years or so since I have done any touring so this may get interesting.
I will turn 46 years old soon so this just may be my "mid life crisis"....who knows?
Anyway, I come from a life time of bicycle oriented culture and did my time as a bike messenger in Oakland/San Francisco. I was much younger then.
I commute daily by bicycle, even when it is sub zero temperature and consider myself a concientious objector to internal combustion!
I don't really know what else to say other than I am glad that I found this site. I look forward to comparing notes with you all. See ya on the road...

Welcome!

Forgive me if I seem a little sensitive, but conscientious objector is pretty strong language. You plan on touring game trails all the way to SoCal?;)

Yes, "conscientious objector" is some strong language. :) I use that because I see people driving (pollution) 2 blocks (lazy) to McDonalds (poison) and wondering why why they are overweight and sick all the time. It's really sad, especially when this "autocentric" society reinforces this behavior through endless television commercials and magazine ads.
That's all I will say about that seeing this is the intro forum and that particular conversation is better conducted in another forum at another time. ;)
"Game trails"? I dunno about that, but I hope to end up just East of Sacramento. Oregon will be a breeze, but heading inland California can be a bit of a challenge. SoCal is a whole different beast.
I did the Oakland to Portland trip and back a couple of times in the 90s, but I was much younger then.
I plan on using a mountain frame with drop bars this time and am just now planning on putting together a machine.
Hopefully, this response made sense as I managed to type it all out BEFORE coffee this morning!

Perfect sense. Thank you!

Welcome to Bike Forums! I'm sure by now, you've found the touring section where you can tell us about your trip. We also have a blogger's area where you can post about your adventures if you have a blog.

Thank you! I will definitely check that out. It's going to take me a while to pour through the extensive posts on this forum, though. :)
