Welcome to Bike Forums. I'm about an hour north of you.
What bike do you have? Where do you ride?
Stop by the Southeast Regional subforum and say hello to the locals. Lots of FL folks here.

I don't have one yet, however I have been looking at the Trek 8.3 DS;
http://www.trekbikes.com/us/en/bikes...eries/8_3_ds/#

I plan to use this as my first bike (get a bit more acquainted with this whole bicycle thing), and as my commuter. Eventually I plan to get a dedicated bike for the Trail since it is much smoother than my commute

I live near SR54 and Veterans, and am just a few miles away form the beginning of the Suncoast Trail

Awesome. The Suncoast is a good place to get in a long ride and not worry about riding in traffic.

Welcome to bikeforums!
Please feel free to ask any questions you might have. There's no such thing as a stupid question here. We were all there at one time or another.

Well, I finally did. And so far it's kicking my ass! I started off looking at road bikes, then hybrids (I need suspension for my neighborhood roads), and eventually realized that my size/riding required a fairly... reinforced bike. I finally decided I needed a 29er

So In early February I ended up purchasing a Specialized Hardrock Sport Disk 29 (21" frame) for myself

And a Specialized Myka Sport Disc 29 for the wife

We have been riding them whenever we can; quick rides around the property with the dogs, regular trips to Flatwoods, and then last Sunday we made a mistake... We finally went to Suncoast... We did 14 miles and my wife was PISSED! She was seriously ready to never ride again because of how tired she was, how much she was struggling to keep up (I average 13-14mph), and how much her legs hurt for the next few days (I had baby deer legs as well). So I told her that instead of giving up that we should go look at road bikes instead.

Since the beginning I have been trying to get her on a road bike, but she wasn't having it... But this time it was a little different. We went to UBC and picked up a 2013 Cannondale CAAD10 4 Rival (56cm frame) for me

And a 2013 Scott Contessa Speedster 35 for her

We did 18 miles yesterday (all of Ream Wilson with friends, then Flatwoods just the two of us) and it was a HUGE difference! So now we have a few options

So now you guys are up to date :-)

Lol, thanks bud! We have many fun endeavors; from all our animals to our cars/motorcycles one truth has always rang true. Do it right the first time, or pay for it several times over
