Out of the frying pan and into the fire, and loving every minute of it!
Hello everyone! I am relatively new to the cycling world, having started back into it about a year ago as a means to maintain my health and fitness. Having been involved in automotive restoration for a little over a decade, I have found that I enjoy vintage bicycles nearly as much as I do vintage automobiles. I started with a 1983 Peugeot that I had pulled out of a trash pile when I was younger, which spent it's time in a shed because it was too big for me at the time. I'm still working on it, and have added a few other bikes to my collection that I work on as time allows. It's a nice change of pace from school and work, and I find that I often enjoy working on bicycles more than I do riding them. I'm currently learning how to build wheels, which I'm finding is truly an under-appreciated art form. I love all types of bicycles, although I find myself riding road bikes the most for my fitness runs. I'm not really into fixies because I'm not used to the concept, but I plan on building up an old Schwinn frame that I was given into a fixie to help me gain a better appreciation for them.

Welcome to Bike Forums. I think the folks in the Classic & Vintage forum would like to see the bikes and hear about them. They like pics.
|
Welcome. You've got quite a nice stable of bikes!
|
Thank you Ron and Cbad! I'm not sure how interested people are in seeing bikes that aren't completely fixed up and shiny, but I will work on taking some hopefully nice looking pictures of them when weather and time allow.

Welcome to the forum customsteel, you're half right about seeing bikes fixed up and shiny,, I say they have to be assembled, but they don't have to be shiny,,, take the pictures
|
Thanks Fastfingaz! A couple of the bikes aren't much more than a frame now, but I will take some pics of the others when I have the opportunity.

Thanks Lacumo!

Well my prognosis is, it looks like you've caught a serious case of the cycling bug. Congratulations!
Welcome to bikeforums! That's an impressive list of bikes you have there too! Needs some Italian steeds tho *cough* *cough* campagnolo is nice *cough* ;) |
Thanks Leukybear, and I think I'd have to agree with you!
I had an affordable Bianchi slip through my fingers late last year, but I'm keeping my eyes open. I love Campagnolo and Bianchi, and I would also love to add a classic Dutch touring or road bike to my stable. All in due time I'm sure. |
