Newbie from Wisco

Hello All,

I've been riding road bikes for the a handful of years now. Current ride is a 2013 Trek Domane 4.5. I'm more of a weekend warrior, but I try to get out as much as possible when the weather in WI permits. I shoot for about 1000 miles every year. I like to use some of the longer, organized charity rides throughout Wisconsin to keep me motivated for training and putting miles on.

Lately, I've been getting into rebuilding vintage bikes. My first and current projects are a '78 Trek 300TX, a '76 Peugeot U08, and soon will be a '90 Merckx 7-11 bike. At first, I wanted to work on old bikes to train myself in the ways of cleaning, building, and bike maintenance. I wanted to learn on some beaters so I didn't end up ruining my Domane. Now, it's turned into an obsession with frustration, as I quickly learned how evolved bikes have become (and just how incompatible vintage French parts are). I'll probably keep at it until my wife tells me to stop.

I look forward to learning more.
Steve

Welcome! I just joined today myself, I'm currently living in Rapid City/South Dakota but I'm from Racine originally. There are tons of great trails in Racine/Kenosha/Milwaukee counties that I've ridden over the years, in case you ever get down that way. Have you ever biked the Elroy-Sparta Trail before? If not it's definitely worth checking out, it's probably only a couple-hour drive from you.
