Newbee from Arizona
I'm a 40 year old math teacher from southern arizona that started riding a few years ago to lose weight. I dropped from 300 pounds to about 200 when I was running a lot. I'm about 215 now, which is a healthy weight, but not so much for road racing!
This January I started racing. I have done three time trials, finishing 3rd the first time, 1st the second, and 5th at the Valley of the Sun in Phoenix. I have done a three road races, finishing 5th, 6th (same time as group) and then a DNF from a mechanical (blew up my wheel). I've done one crit and finished 3rd.
I'm super happy to be riding and racing and am working on bringing my weight down to about 185 ...not sure I can get lower. I'm not very tall for that weight, 5'10", but at 200 I'm really lean.
So, from sunny Arizona,
Congratulations on the impressive race results! And congratulations on all the weight lost, and good luck in losing more!
