HI - New Guy in San Diego, CA
I recently traded my old mtn bike for a new road bike. I think I spent a whopping $100 on the mtn bike quite a few years ago. I was trolling craigslist and found a gentlemen that wanted to trade his road bike for mtn bike. The bike is brand new...Yes it is from bikes direct but it is aluminum and is in excellent condition. I jumped at the opportunity and landed this new Mercier Galaxy SC1! I have to say it is a nice bike. I know it is a mass produced bike with some low end components but I haven't ridden in a REALLY long time and I want to get back on the bike again. Being able to trade and not spend any money was so nice.
Anyways, I am 41 yrs old and haven't ridden in about 5 years. Life, work and family took over but now I want to ride for the fun part and also for the fitness part.
Back in the 90's, I owned a mtn bike and rode quite a bit including some local races and trips to the mountain for downhill events.
I also enjoyed riding on the road and thought now that I am older, I want to tour around San Diego on the road.
I appreciate any input as to starting to ride and progressing into longer rides. I know that I really need to ease back into cycling so I don't hurt myself.
Looking forward to learning about bikes and techniques and general info from this site.
Thanks.
