bike questions
I'm new to this site and looking for some advice. I live in Lansing, Michigan and am looking for a good bike shop. I will be riding on dirt roads mostly and wonder if any of you have suggestions on a good bike for dirt roads?

Welcome to BF! Just a personal thought, but... If I was in your situation, I’d put some time into cruising LBS’s, doing window-shopping and info-gathering. The only way you’ll truly find out which are the local “better” or “best” LBS’s will be by comparing them yourself and making your own decision. Any answer to your question about the dirt roads will be arguable, but... I think generally speaking, you’ll be better off with something that has wider tires instead of narrower tires. If you intend to get into doing century rides, the answer will be different than if your longest ride will be ~30 miles. If you’re going to stay in the lower mileage range and do only modest dirt road cruising, a hybrid might be best for you (?)... It can get complicated and that’s why you need to hit the LBS trail in your area. Good luck with it!

Welcome redwing. The folks in your area at the Great Lakes regional subforum can help you find a good shop or two in your area.
Good luck.
Good luck.
