I am an "older" bicyclist, and have been an avid triathlete. Recently I have begun riding "bike-shop" rides, pace lines, etc., which I have found to be much more fun than miles of solo training. Besides, all the miles on a tri-bike have taken their toll on my shoulders and back, so I am looking for a good road bike. I posted a new thread on this forum, looking for any advice, so please add your comments if you are so inclined. I have ridden a Kestrel Tri bike since they came out in 1990 or so, and they are fine but I would like to now enjoy the ride a bit more and worry less about getting there fast.
I am also nearing retirement, kids are mostly gone, so I see a lot of road miles in my future.
I would love to hear back from anyone who is or has been in a similar situation.
Trek 930 converted to Commuter/Tourer. And a few other not worthy of mentioning
Hello and welcome from a fellow newbie Minnesotan. I am also an older rider with much less experience than you. I rode an aluminum hybrid last fall and I thought it was ok. I converted a 1990 trek 930 single track this winter. I've only ridden it 35 miles in the last couple of days and I absolutely love the smooth well handling ride.
Thanks to all for your replies. I ride mostly in the western suburbs, from Minneapolis out to the Delano area. I enjoy some of the bike ship rides as well. Hopefully the weather will break shortly. Have a great season.
