    Is this a good deal?

I am new to cycling. I have been riding on various bikes for well over a year and I would like to switch to a Tour bike. I know they can be very expensive ( brand new or used). So I have been looking on Craigslist to find a used one in good condition. I did find one, a 1984 Schwin for 200 or best offer. It looks like it's in excellent condition. It just needs new tires and tubes. What do you think, is this a good deal or should I hold out like my husband says?

Did rather buy more local so I can see what I getting before I pay for it.

I had that bike, though I bought mine for less than $100, but mine needed new brake pads, chain and freewheel, as well as new tires and tubes and a tuneup. If all it needs is some new tires, it is worth $200, imo.

Nice riding bike. It should have Columbus Tenax tubing, which is very good quality.

Welcome to BF! Which bike is the right or best buy for you will be the one that feels good and comfortable when you ride it. Good luck with your hunt.
