    Introduction

Hi, I'm new to the Bike Forum. I retired 5 years ago and picked up backpacking. I'm struggling walking up and down hills carrying 50 lbs on my back. I decided to pull out my 1972 Schwinn and give it a good cleaning, lub job and remove the rust, put a new set of tires on it. It's as solid as a tank. I thought it would be much better pulling 50lbs with a bike instead of carrying it on my back. I enjoy nature and I have all this backpacking gear I would hate to see collect dust, so I'm going to go touring on my bike. I took my bike trailer that I use to haul around my grandchildren (much older now) and converted it to haul my backpacking gear in. I'm getting ready for a 120 mile trip on Rails-to-Trails in NW Ohio (Wabash Cannonball Trail). A good starter trail (flat), for an older man. I hope to start touring on a regular basis and thought it would be great idea joining this forum, where much knowledge and experience can be acquired at my finger tips.
