Hello from Tampa Bay/Nature Coast!
I've been seriously riding for about 10 months and I'm up to 300 miles a month. I am in the market for a road bike and have been looking at the entry level for Giant, Fuji and Trek. I was shown a Schwinn Fastback with Thor gear the other day, but not too sure about a Schwinn road bike...

Welcome aboard.
Personally, I'd avoid Schwinns. And consider the used market. You can get a mid to upper level ride at entry level prices.
