Howdy from Northern Virginia

Hello everyone,
Signing on from Lovettsville, trying to learn more about setting up my bike and making my commute faster...I ride exclusively on the W&OD trail to and from work, I'm too scared and uninterested in riding in traffic! I moved up from Leesburg where I would commute to Sterling along the trail. My house and my office where steps from the trail, woo-hoo! It was about 11 miles each way and I'd do it about 3 times a week. I got rid of my mountain bike (No time for fun riding, just commuting on the trail) and found an awesome 1989 Bottecchia Professional. I'm not sure which one it is, but its not the one with chrome seat and chain stays. (booo) Funny story, I didn't know how to pronounce the name until a decked out roadie on a multi thousand dollar bike stopped to tell me how cool it was. I silently thanked him for saying the name of my ride :-)
Now I live in Lovettsville, so I have to drive to a point and put in to ride to work. I'm working my way backwards, getting back in shape, and will hopefully start my commute from the beginning in Purceville soon. Probably a 2 hour ride, though, so I'm sure my start points will vary.
I'm looking for a used Adamo seat (I think I'd like the breakaway) and I'll probably try some clip on aero bars. That'll be the only upgrades I'm looking into, but i'd really like to hear about others who have "modernized" their steel rides. I treat my commute like a time trial and am also trying out different android apps to track my progress.
Cheers all,
Snuffy
