Just Started, Really Excited
I am new to the cycling lifestyle. As a kid I rode my rigid frame MTB everywhere. I joined the navy and never rode a bike in that 6 years. I bought a Target Schwinn MBT to ride around the parks with my wife but never rode with any intensity. After only riding a motorcycle for 3 years I trained my brain that the left handlebar lever was a clutch, and the next time I rode my bicycle I clutched and went over the handlebars.... twice. I took a 5 year break from cycling and was very scared to go back. This summer(2014) I decided I will learn to ride again. I signed up for a 25 mile charity ride and am now obsessed. I have a 2009 Jamis Ventura Sport I purchased off of craigslist and I am upgrading it little by little to be an awesome enough bike to take me on my first century by seasons end. I have lots of questions and am excited to gear up for this challenge.

Sorry, I didn't mean to laugh! (The "twice" was a good punchline.) Ouch!
I broke my rear shifter cable on a recent ride, and couldn't stop "shifting" the rest of the ride. And after driving a stick shift for some years, I floored the brake pedal on an automatic rental car with my clutch foot. Some actions are just automatic after a while.

I am getting pedals and shoes in the mail this week and I can't wait to learn how to use them. 2 down, only 5 more upgrades to go.
