Howdy all.

Does the name give you any idea as to what kind of guy I am. I love to have fun. I love to cut up and kid around. I also love to ride my bike.

I guess my attraction to my two wheeled fighter jet began when the police sent a scuba diver into the St. John's River in Jacksonville, Fla. and retrieved my first bicycle which had been stolen. It soon became a symbol of freedom and independence to me.

About 13 years ago I stopped because I changed jobs, and the work schedule cut my riding time to, oh, about nothing. I am just getting started back in the saddle. I'll be 50 this year, and am really looking forward to logging some good miles.

I'm a purely recreational rider, but am a "serious" recreational rider.

I found this forum in a "search", started reading some of the posts, and just had to get in on this. Good stuff.

I better stop. You will get to know me as someone who doesn't know when to shut up. I promise I'll try to control myself.

More later.

WAIT A MINUTE. I just checked the length of this and I have a lot of room to go. (Just kidding.)

See ya.:p :roflmao:

Hey Jolly, How did they know where to look for your bike ? Was there someone clipped in to the pedals when they pulled it up ?;) :D

That would have been funny hillyman, but no. Someone saw a boy throw it into the river and reported it to the police. (My hero.)

By the way, after we got the bike back, my grandfather took it and cleaned it up real good for me. That was one of those good times you have with your grandfather, know what I mean.:)

I know how you feel. I rode a lot in the early and mid-80s. Then, like you, work interferred with riding. :( Curses!!
I got back into riding in '99 when my wife told me I needed to get more, ... er, make that "start exercising". She was looking at my middle when she said that.
BTW: I'm 57 and love riding.

What kind of bike did they pull out of the St. Johns? Do you still have it?

Hey RonH,

The bike was an old Western Flyer, but to me it was the Lincoln of two wheelers. I don't know where the bike wound up, it seems like the last time I saw it was in 1902 (just kidding). I haven't seen it since I was 15, that was in 1967.

Of course it was red and white. Had tassles hanging from the grips. Had a light built into the tank that traversed the top tube. Oh, and it had a rack over the rear wheel. When I rode that, I really felt special.

Has anyone else ridden their bicycle past some girls house for hours at a time to show off when you were a little boy? How about the girls riding past a boys house?
