Hello from Bay Area Cali
Hey there BikeForums!
I've always been using the forums here as an unorganised database of sorts, but now I've hit the wall in terms of finding information. Does anyone here know what type of headset I should be getting for a 2006 Fuji Aloha 1.0? I've gotten multiple answers from various sources including the shop I bought it from, and from Fuji, among others, ranging from "I really don't know" to campy hiddenset and microtech. I know the two are slightly different, but I'd like to know, preferably from someone who actually owns this bike, what type of headset they use, or if anyone knows, what headset this headtube cupped section was designed for.
On to the actual introduction, I guess. Hello all, I hail from Cupertino, the land of Apple, and I've been on the bike consistently for a few years now, ever since I was in an auto accident that involved my car getting mounted by a lifted 92 Jeep Cherokee (ouch). I rode my dad's Klein Pinnacle for a while, and when a friend of mine offered me a free frame that had been gathering dust in his backyard, I jumped at it. It's probably the janky-est (jankiest?) bike in this town, maybe in the whole SF Bay Area, that actually functions properly. It's a beaten purple Trek Multitrack 7900, and includes 130mm rear hub in a 135mm dropout, 26.0 drop bars in a 25.4 stem, a front fork that has sustained so many impacts one side bends more than the other so my front brakes don't work, tennis racket overgrip substituting bar tape, and a ridiculous 1 x 9 with a rear cassette that runs 11-32 simply because I could.
(This was the day construction was complete. That was a year ago.)
I've finally decided that this 48cm top tube mountain bike frame is too small for me, and the long stem, damaged fork, and strange geometry combination is extremely hard to handle when cornering at any speed. So now I found myself the '06 Fuji Aloha (I know, it's a generic bike) for roughly $150, a 3T Funda Pro from ebay, and am beginning the slow process of piecemeal-ing this bike together one part at a time.
Sorry for wall of text, I just felt like spilling it out there.

Greetings from just up the road! Basically grew up in Sunnyvale, went to Homestead, and still return to Cupertino whenever I feel the urge to dodge poorly driven silver minivans ;-)
