Hi everyone. I'm a new member and I live near Austin.
I need to get back into some kind of shape, burn calories and carbs and get my blood surgar under control. I'm 62 years ol, 260 lbs and diabetic.
So I purchased a rack for my car and a used 2006 Trek 7700 Hybrid. Will ride it around the city parks and paved bike trails.
I'm having a lot of difficulty finding technical information on this bike. There is a sticker under the crank that lists a build date in 2006, but I cannot find any documents on it.
I really need to understand the front suspension adjustments, there is a sticker on the fork that says RST, but their website has no data back to 2006.
There is an adjustment knob on the non-drive side of the fork that rotates to what feels like four positions, could be more, perhaps 1.5 to 2 complete turns, it is marked RST and PRELOAD. On the drive side top of the fork, there is a button that has three positions, up, middle and down, and there is a sticker near the button that says "LOCK". There does not seem to be any dampening adjustment knobs on the bottom of the forks.
So, from my riding today, it looks like turning the non-drive side knob clockwise stiffens the preload, and pushing the button down locks the fork to no up/down movement. The center position on the button appears to increase compression dampening, or perhaps it is rebound.
Thanks for letting me join this forum.
