Vintage bike lover
Hi all - I've been reading the forums for quite a while and finally decided to join. I'm hoping that I can share with you and, more importantly, learn from you all when it comes to the ins and outs of the care and feeding of old steel bikes. In addition to a couple of modern bikes (a Gunnar Roadie and a Surly Long Haul Trucker), I'm the proud owner of a 1980 Miyata 610 (just got it, and it's a beauty), a 1986 Miyata 910 (in the process of rehab), and a 1987 Miyata Trail Runner in perfect condition, which I've had since it was new. I'll probably find most of my questions answered in the Vintage forums, but hello to all of you, old school and modern alike!

Hi,
Welcome to Bike Forum. I have an old Miyata bike as well. With assistance from the C&V forum they believe my bike is an '81 Miyata 750SR road bike. So I'd be interested in seeing a picture of your '80 Miyata 610 as a comparision. You seem to have the same illness as the rest of the members of this forum n + 1 bikes.

Welcome. As you can see from my bike list I love Miyatas too. I'm restoring a 1981 210 this winter. It's at the paint shop now. I have only this pic of it on my stand in the basement. I had just finished stripping the paint.
