Howdy from North Idaho!
I’ve been ease dropping on Bike Forums for a few months now and decided it was high time that I share some details about myself. A little over 50 years ago, in San Antonio, Texas I came into this world. Then, roughly 20 years ago, I up and moved to the northwest with my wife and two children.
Just about 10 years ago, due to being a desk jockey and a smoker for most of my adult life, the doctor said I needed to get some exercise and quit smoking. So I bought a bike, threw away the coffin nails and started riding. Since then I’ve gradually increased my health, riding skills and distances. In the past few years I’ve completed three MS 150 rides, numerous unsupported 50+ mile rides and completed my first century ride this past fall. Lately, I’ve come to realize how much I have enjoyed the scenery and freedom of the longer rides, and have decided to try my hand at bike touring. I am currently in the process of converting my old Giant Yukon into a touring bike. It’s kind of slow going, but I hope to have it ready by the time the snow and ice have disappeared this spring. I’m glad that I came upon this forum and it’s wealth of knowledge. It has, and will, help educate me on how to build my bike, plan my routes, pack my panniers and hit the road.
Thanks, hope to see some of you on the road!
