Welcome. I'm not sure as I have never been there, but there seems a certain romance to commuting in NYC. I ride downtown here in the summer and have a great time. I can only imagine what it's like biking through Time's Square.

thank you!
well bike riding thru NYC is kind of crazy. you have really aggressive/dangerous drivers and you have really oblivious pedestrians. and you have pedestrians on bikes not paying attention. it is kind of a zoo. but it's nice getting on a bike and riding everywhere. far nicer than the crowded subways. and everything is in a reasonable distance. the west side hwy and east side river-way are my picks for bike riding in manhattan. i wouldn't bike ride thru times square if you paid me! lol
brooklyn bike riding is quite nice. many people i know here do a ride up, crossing the george washington bridge and riding upstate to Nyack. then they ride back. there are great trails and bike-riding on Long Island. I have a few friends here who go out there for it, and i have some friends out there who bike regularly on Long island. it's quite pretty.

Unfortunately, our weather in the Tri State has returned to what it should be for this time of year, and then some. The biggest challenge, I've found, will be keeping your hands warm. I don't commute, but I do regularly ride in the winter and I find my hands to me a much bigger issue than anything else. So I'd stress getting a pair of warm gloves, and potentially some handwarmers inside them in addition, depending on the temps.
