Love To Ride But New To Road Bikes
Hello everybody. Just like the title says I love to ride but just a few years ago I purchased a Trek hybrid and started taking this a little more serious. I got some friends of mine involved and it wasn't long before doing 50 mile rides was the norm. So we all decided to upgrade our hybrids to road bikes. To make a long story short I ended up spending a whole lot more than I had planned. I ended up with a 2014 Trek Domane 5.2.
So make question is kinda a silly one. Is it normal to buy a brand new bike and the brake cables to look as if they have been adjusted previously? I would expect a brand new bike to look untouched. I know this is a silly question and the appearance of the cable does not interfere at all with the performance of the bike. Its just that my OCD bothers me every time I look at the end of the bent up cables.
Ok with that being said, I am out of Long Beach California and you can frequently find me on my new TreK Domane riding up and down the San Gabriel Riverbed Trail.

Welcome to the forum! I wouldn't consider a second crimp in the brake cable to be abnormal. And they do get bent. Check if the cables have those nifty crimp-on metal caps. They clean up the appearance and should help with the OCD. LOL

Welcome! Probably adjusted during assembly and found they needed to be adjusted differently. No big. Enjoy the bike.

I've unboxed Treks with the rear brake already set... maybe it was set wrong.

The Domane 5.2 is a great bike. I have had mine for a bit over a year, and I enjoy it more all the time, of all my bicycles it is my favorite ride.
