Hi! Maine, hoping to meet others for company on the road!
I'm not 100% sure what to write here. I hope to keep it somewhat interesting and succinct! I'd really enjoy being able to chat with folks, and meet people that have similar interests.
I moved to Maine in 1/2006, and immediately herniated two discs in my back. In 10/2007 I was no longer walking and had surgery. Prior to this year and a half event of being broken, I had always jogged, hiked, and some biking with a mountain bike. During my injury I was petrified I'd not only not walk properly again, but that I'd never see the top of another mountain, etc. So after surgery I didn't look back. As soon as I was able to I was walking longer and longer, minor trail hiking stuff. I was back on my Kona Hahana. One of my best friends took it upon himself to help me rebuild my fitness. He helped me get my Motobecane Fantom and I've been attached to cycling ever since. I continue to hit new milestones. He accompanied me on my first proper hike, and the last two years I've been knocking off the NH 4k's solo, including some backpacking trips.
Otherwise I am a tattooist, fine artist, and general strange person. I am always up for chatting to people about lots of things, and am interested in rebuilding my clientele in the Greater Portland Area! I work at Fianna Studio, started last November there. I'm pretty excited about this, because it's the best shop in town. I love it there!
Outside of that, I'm hoping to find a few people to sometimes do road cycling with, or hike up some mountains with. I have a distinct lack of athletic friends sadly! I tried the PVC, but then moved out of the area. There is also the fact that their rides do not coincide with my schedule very well. But I'm hoping the Weds night ride is something I can pick up.
