Vintage Bruce Jenner - enough already but I couldn't resist / C&V bike LOL

From the eddywouldrideblog

This is a very, very rare Bruce Jenner, limited edition, Roadmaster, vintage decathlon 10 speed bike.

It has a unique quickshifter that shows the speed that you are in, in a window on the shifter.

This bike has been stored for about 25-30 years, so it is in excellent condition, although it does have a 1 inch split on the tip of the seat and a few scratches from wear and tear, but other than that, it is fine. The tires are also ok, but they do need cleaned up a bit. The seat is still very white, and not "clothing stained" as most white seats are on a bike. There isn't any rust on the bike frame either.

I thought that it was time that I let someone else enjoy this wonderful bike, since I haven't rode it in all those years.

With these sunny warm days finally arriving, this would be the perfect bike to take out and enjoy riding.

Bruce Jenner spoke at my high school in the 90's and no one really got a lot out of it. They made a big point of telling us how he usually didn't speak at high schools but our district and a few neighboring schools got some kind of package rate. So maybe we got discount Jenner and that was the problem. It also probably had greater impact for our teachers who remembered Jenner winning gold. One of them equally might be interested in this, one of the ugliest bikes I've ever seen.

AMF was on a heavy marketing kick at this point. You might remember that AMF sponsored the big race in Breaking Away and the main character has to trade in his gorgeous Masi Gran Criterium for one of these hunks. It's inauspicious when you buy product placement in a movie which then incooperates a montage of the hero overhauling your bike to make it race worthy.

Cycling also isn't a decathalon event. Whatever. The shift box mounted on the stem is just mind bogglingly huge. It eliminates that pesky front derailer and its' two positions. This is much simpler.

Ahh yes, good old AMF. At one time, makers of bowling equipment, tennis rackets, Harley Davidsons (They nearly destroyed that company), boats of various types, and, alas, bicycles.

That bike is surely a collectible to someone, somewhere, but hardly usable. I'll take a guess that the shifter mechanism needed frequent adjustment and probably
broke, beyond repair, a lot.
