46t chainring

Well my cross bike is nicer then my way to big road bike so I will be racing a road race on it this weekend.

You guys think 46t will be big enough?

And my main question is how many gears will I need to block out, if any? 46x12?

Yep, 46x13 is a great gear, and more than enough. You probably don't need that 12 for CX either.
