12:12 - A nice 20 mile ride just for the fun of it. Back to commuting tomorrow.

I did literally one minute of riding last night. Today a normal 14 mile commuting day. First half done, but there might be thundershowers later, so we'll see how that goes.

I'm doing the riding but I don't care enough to post about all my travels online. Tours, sure. Daily rides around town, f it.

For me, the posts are about accountability, encouraging others, and finding a supportive community. If you don't want to post, don't do it. No skin off of anyone else's nose.

13:13 - went out for a ride and had to beat it back after just six miles to beat a major downpour. Got back just minutes before the skies opened up.

14:14 - 12 mile round trip commute. The dogwood blooms are beginning to fall. The ground is covered in white and pink petals.

I didn't take the pledge, but so far 14 for 14. Worst day so far was a "I'm not breaking the streak" ride in what we call in Minnesota call "Wintery Mix." I didn't have much time or anywhere reason to go anywhere, so I just rode around the block on my '51 Sports (not enough get the rims wet, as I'd still be out there trying to come to stop if I did!) And that would have been a just a lark on my winter bike.

April Minnesota weather has been great the past week. Highs in the lower 50s to upper 70s. Just perfect. Lots of headwinds, but for my distance and speed they don't really bother me.

I'm sorry...you can't stop if your rims are wet?

15:15 - My commute. This time of year always puts me in mind of e.e. cummings' description of spring as "mudlucious" and "puddle-wonderful."

Back in the day steel rims like are on my '51 Raleigh made wet stops a real adventure. If you haven't had the experience of squeezing both levers and then squeezing them harder and finding that the wet rims might as well be Teflon you can't really appreciate modern bike brakes (grin). Good pads and clean rims help some.

Get you some aluminum wheels! They don't rhyme like steel wheels, but are lighter, faster, and much safer.

16:16 - I had a packed day so my only chance to ride was at 6:00 this morning. What a wonderful time to ride! I had the roads to myself.

17:17 - commute. Tomorrow I go pick up my road bike (I hope!), so I'm really eager to take a longer, faster ride.

16 out of 17. Took a long hike in the Bayrische Alpenvorland last Sunday with the family for 4 hours. So no riding then.

18:18 - 15 miles just for fun. Checked out a new cycle track in town along a major road. Nice! I also revisited an LBS and put a new bike on order: a Bianchi Volpe!
