Happy Solstice!

It's the shortest day of the year for a few of us; the longest for most. Wherever you are, Have a good solstice and a great season!

And Happy Father's Day to the American dads! Have fun with the kiddies...

Does/did anybody have special plans for the day?

I'm getting ready to take the longest walk of the year (so far)--about two miles. With all the daylight, it would be a great day for a super-long bike ride or walk. Maybe next year. For today, I'm happy to be alive, spending some time with my son and his son on Father's Day.

Nothing makes you feel older than having a 40 year old son! I remember my dad telling me that 20 years ago, and now it's true for me also.

This is a great day for thinking about the "cycles" of life--seasons and generations. To every time there is a purpose; the wheels of the bike go 'round and 'round.

We did our solstice century a few days ago.

We are also visiting my parents right now. My father (who posted as Cadillac here on BF for several years) had a heart attack at Easter, so our holiday plans were suddenly decided ... we're visiting family.

I wish him a speedy recovery!

Thanks ... he's doing remarkably well.

We've been out for rides together 4 times since we got here, with the longest one being 37 km.

I took this on one of our recent rides ...

we celebrated the combination of the first official "weekend" of summer, my daughter's 10th birthday, and father's day yesterday with a Tour de Ice Cream ride. Ended up with 40 miles & 3 ice cream stops by the end of the day, doubled the mileage from her 9th birthday but only added one ice cream stop.
