Interesting film

I just watched a really interesting film, called The End of Suburbia. Recommended viewing!

Basically, it's about the consequences of peak oil and beyond on the unsustainable American way of life, with people commuting insane distances between their homes in suburbia and their work. As oil gets more and more expensive, there will probably be a movement back into American cities/towns. People will look to live and work closer; and with a bit of positive thinking and effort towns could become more liveable with more cycling, walking and social interaction.

I saw it at a meeting of Democrats Abroad in London (and maybe in your area too?), but it's available direct from the website: https://www.endofsuburbia.com/catalog.htm

He he. Well, the science is sound - it's not like there's any doubt in the scientific community about the facts. Of course, no one can predict the future and so I suppose their predictions become a fiction of a kind. But I'm all for examining the facts and then analysing them in a logical manner to try to understand what is likely to occur in the future. By working to understand the world around us, surely we will be better prepared for future events and can make changes to mitigate the worst results? Of course if you would rather not live in a fact based reality, only to be confronted with it when the consequences are inescapable - by all means be my guest.
