Great Point. I never thought about that, but it is true that a car-free place is a lot better and a lot more pleasant than the other. The other day I was wondering how would Boston look without all the street. Would it be sucha bad place? Hmm... Thanks for your comment.

I expect a lot more enviroment votes, but I am happily surprised that people on this forums are more complicated then that.

I have found myself financially unable to support a car. This makes me very happy. Enviromentally I don't believe that private transportation is a good thing. So even though not having a car makes it a little more difficult to get around I am happy with the trade off of being true to what I believe in- a sustainable economy and people friendly cities as well as rural areas. So for me besides financial/political it is also a protest. But most of all bicycling and kickscootering is just plain fun.

I feel that using a car in an urban centre is an unacceptable use of resources for one person.

Truth be told, I'm not carfree for any logical reason. I prefer to experience life directly and first hand, not from inside a steel exoskeleton. I like the feeling of being somewhere instead of just passing through. I feel the nuisance and absurdity of taking a giant machine, ten times my size, everywhere I go.
I don't care how the older two generations did things. It's like the end of Victorianism. When enough people feel suffocated and oppressed by the old ways, they'll sweep it all away and try something new. The time isn't yet right, but it may be coming.
