Pedicabs in New York City
A friend returned from a trip to New York and remarked that now there
are many pedicabs in Manhatten. I didn't notice any when I was there a few years ago. When I googled to find some photos or something I saw articles from New York newspapers about some of the issues in this expanding bike business. It seems like the business has become successful but is starting to run into a mix of political and regulatory issues. Here are some random links google showed to me. A person thinking of starting a car free business that competes with the car culture might be interested in the insurance and licensing issues and with the calls for stricter regulation. http://www.nypress.com/19/10/news&columns/8.cfm http://www.gothamgazette.com/article//20060306/202/1778 http://www.jrn.columbia.edu/academic...-04-28/362.asp http://www.cicle.org/cicle_content/p...try.php?id=450 |
we have these in boston too, but they pretty much only make money during red sox games or other big events because they can get closer to the destination. they don't have any rates, and the drivers rent them from the company i think.
