Flavor changed?

So, now that the Utility forum is up and running, do you think the flavor of LCF has changed?

I'd say yes, it's changed slightly. Before the creation of the Utility forum, I felt I was having to walk on eggshells to avoid upsetting people who took offense at the discussion of any larger issues not pertaining purely to bicycle configurations and cargo carrying strategies.

Yep some of the people that "supposedly" were "attacked" by the viscous car haters on LCF haven't posted since the new utility forum opened

Too soon to tell I'd say. I didn't even know there was a utility forum till you mentioned it.

I like it. I think it was a separation that needed to take place. Utility has become a hardware oriented forum, and has freed LCF to discuss just that.

Personally, I don't like it. I used to check the regional forum, Commuting, and LCF. Now I have Regional, Electronics and gadgets, commuting, lcf, utility....

Meh. Too many forums.

I like the utility forum, I think LCF is still pretty interesting, and I check out both regularly, but I liked it better when gear-heads and idealogues shared the same forum. Yes, some people got irritated at times, but there was a synergy before that isn't quite so pronounced any more. (And it is a bit of a bother to have to move from forum to forum all the damn time.)

I agree with bragi. Part of the challenge people in the US face when considering giving up the car is the lack of quality utility cycling equipment.
